Strategies for Distributing Promotional Pens



Promotional pens are truly among the most popular and most effective marketing and advertising objects used by businesses today. Most companies have started to realize that no other item could do better in promoting goods and services than promotional pens. That is because pens are easily accessible, are convenient, and are highly useful. There is nothing better than seeing your company name or logo in a pen that is used by people wherever you go.

After you have done effectively designing and producing your promotional pens, it is time you take care of such items’ distribution. This is a very crucial stage because you would have to make it a point the items are reaching intended users. You surely want to make your pens everywhere. There are effective and creative strategies to do so. You should not rely on simply going out of the street to give away your pens to everyone who walks past you.

You could enclose the pens to letters that are distributed regularly to your clients and business partners. Just make sure the pen would not cause any distortion or inconvenience to the letter.

Be strategic when determining placement of promotional pens. Know your target consumers and determine where they would be most likely to hangout. You may theorize that your prospective clients hangout at coffee shops, hair salons, or gyms. The best and most appropriate thing to do is to ask permission from the manager or owner of such establishments if you could leave supplies of promotional pens at their reception. Many of such establishments would readily agree because they would also like the idea that they would be able to give away items to their valued clients and patrons.

Be on guard, especially when somebody from the crowd asks, ‘Who has got a pen?’ You should always bring a handful of your promotional pens with you. In such cases, you should readily handover to the person your pen, with your company name and logo imprinted on it. This works two ways. First, the receiver would highly appreciate and value the pen. Second, he would be more likely to keep the pen so that he would not have to ask people next time.

Strategically forget your promotional pen. It would be a good distribution idea if you would use your own promotional pen whenever you sign any credit card receipt in any restaurant, retail store, or gasoline station. Intentionally leave your pen or pretend you have forgotten it. This way, other people surely would get hold of your item. You could even ask permission from a restaurant manager if you could supply wait staff with your very own promotional pen. It would be nice if other people would see your logo and company name in pens used by waiters, who are deemed very important personnel in such establishments.

Put up a pen-designing contest to be participated in by your clients. Through doing this, you are giving them the opportunity to do marketing for you. Of course, winning designers would help distribute their design pens, even without you telling them to do so. People would naturally want to brag how great their creations are.

This way, you also would not have to be bothered much about the design and appearance of your promotional pens.
