Six Sigma Certifications: What You Need To Know

Six Sigma had come to gain quite the popularity and success in the business world. Evolving from Motorola’s introduction of it being a business management strategy in the 1980s, Six Sigma continuously became an effective method that seeks to improve the quality of any businesses’ or companies’ manufacturing processes. Its aim is to identify, define, and remove errors and defects in its processes. It also minimizes variability by standardizing the process. In the end, Six Sigma is supposed to work as a modifier of only allowing at least a maximum of 3.4 defects out of a million opportunities. This is something that would not only improve the products and services of your company, it also minimizes the waste costs and expenses in the long run.

Conversely, Six Sigma is something that needs experts that will run the show. By ranks, a team of Six Sigma professionals should involve the CEO and the popular master belters: Green, Yellow, Black, etc. This know-how can be learned, but not overnight. Depending on whether your company requires its employees the knowledge or certification about Six Sigma or you just want to learn it to be able to adopt it on your company, you can choose to enroll in a Six Sigma program that best suits your need. There are a number of numerous on-site or online Six Sigma training courses that you can choose from. What matters the most however, is the certification that you’ll get out of it.

The Six Sigma certification is what an individual gets indicating the confirmation of his or her abilities and capabilities with regards to their Six Sigma competencies. In other words, similar to other certifications or the process of it, this will verify just which specific tasks an individual is capable of. It also states the tools and concepts of the methodology that you’re expected to be familiar with. But certification alone wouldn’t be enough to gain acknowledgement of how well you are in the Six Sigma method after going through its program. Your experience with it will give your qualities more foundation than a mere paper of certification.

This is why, although you have proof that you have undergone the Six Sigma program, you still need to be able to fully apply its use on at least two successful projects before you can flaunt your knowledge about it. A good way to push through the program is to complete a couple more onsite trainings that give you a hands-on experience on the Six Sigma application. Passing related proficiency tests also gives you a high point on credibility. Completing the said pointers will definitely make your portfolio or resume an edge amongst everyone else’s.

To some this may seem too much to do, but for a serious candidate, this is just another steep learning curve that could make a difference on your personality and most especially on your own business if you choose to. The motivation here is to gain as much knowledge and experience possible to guarantee success at the end of it all.
