Black Belts Without The Mats: Six Sigma Certification

If they award the best karate fighters a black belt for recognition, do you know that in the business world, there are black belters as well in terms of business management strategies and all?

One of the rising business management strategy or method known today is the Six Sigma. With it being an effective approach to improve business administration, a lot are trying to be involved and gain more information about the popular strategy.

Why is it considered effective? How many businesses out there are using this said scheme?

To understand the method better, let’s look at its objective. Six Sigma aims to create a production ratio of at least 3.4 defects out of a million opportunities. This means that if your company is able to produce a million products every manufacturing state, you are only allowed 3.4 errors. That also includes limited customer complaints. The main priority of the method is to achieve outstanding customer satisfaction, with limited costs.

Six Sigma experts are ranked according to their capacity, knowledge and experience in the procedure. Thus the roles of the belts similar to martial arts: the best ones are known as masters with black belts, while the rest are considered Green, Yellow, etc. belters.

To use the Six Sigma, you’ll need a number of the belters in a team, headed of course by the masters and the CEO of the company. The Six Sigma team would then apply either the DMAIC or the DMADV method, depending on what fits your company’s requirement the most. The DMAIC is used to improve an already existing strategy within a business management, while the DMADV is an option when planning or designing a product or strategy to use.

DMAIC means to Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control. To apply the said method, all you have to do is understand the executive meaning of the acronyms. For a Six Sigma black belt, they are expected to be fully aware of these steps and how it should be implemented. The idea mostly here is that the team will serve as the quality control before, during, and after the manufacturing of the products.

When the DMAIC is applied, the team has to: Define or identify the projects goal and objectives; Measure the involved causality and collect the data needed for comparison later on; Analyze the type of process and the solutions that will be used to achieve your goal; Improve the process or design as decided during the analysis period, test and verify until you reach a satisfying result; and lastly, Control, or better yet, maintain the enhanced process to guarantee that the project continuously creates the desired performance and end product.

Having a set of Six Sigma black belts and experts to do this task will definitely give your company the assurance and the edge that you’ll end up with quality products accompanying customer satisfaction at its best. Exactly what the Six Sigma promised, the program will for sure deliver results beyond compare when imposed, implemented and established the right way.
