How to Find Metal Detecting 'Hot Spots'
1. Ask some senior citizens in your place.

This is another way to find 'out of the way spots'. To get maps, search at garage sales and local flee markets. You can also go to some local libraries and historical societies because there's a big chance that they have just what you're looking for. Spend some time to look for a good map, the one that's very detailed. It should present the areas where homesteads and structures are situated. Tourist attractions and other notable places must also be shown.

Other accessories that come in handy when detecting metals are headlamps or flashlight, plastic containers, and extra batteries. These accessories will surely help increase your chances of getting valuable finds. So before you go to your chosen spot, make sure you are familiar with your detector and you have all these accessories on hand.
